Born in Leamington Spa in 1915, Sir Terry Frost RA became one of Britain's leading post-war abstract artists. He began to paint during the war, in the prisoner of war camp of Stalag 383.On his return to England Frost lived and studied art in St Ives. He then attended the Camberwell School of Art in London where his interest for abstraction emerged in its early stages.He worked as an assistant to Barbara Hepworth and played a pivotal role in the abstract avant-garde movement of St Ives School.
