Small World was printed in 1994 with master printer Bob Saich at Advanced Graphics, London, and combines screen-printing and woodblock techniques, producing thick, tactile layers of ink. The vivid, frenzied strokes in this work accentuate the preoccupation with its subject: a young boy carelessly kicking a skull across a pavement, which Keane explains is about “our acceptance of a comfortable lifestyle while there's so much going on around us that's distressing.”
