Tour led by Chisato Minamimura
11am - 12pm
Join us at Flowers Gallery in London, for a tour of Prismatic Minds led by Chisato Minamimura - a Deaf performance artist and BSL (British Sign Language) art tour guide who draws on her art degrees, skills and knowledge of art and art history at venues across the UK, including the British Museum, National Portrait Gallery and Tate Museums.
Curated by Jennifer Gilbert (Director of the Jennifer Lauren Gallery) and actor, writer, and co-presenter of art podcast Talk Art Russell Tovey, the exhibition looks at six artists from around the world with distinct art styles. The artists are: Misleidys Francisca Castillo Pedroso, Edward Dutkiewicz, Rachel Heller, Keisuke Ishino, Susan Te Kahurangi King and Makoto Okawa.
The works are original and energetic, introducing groups of characters that often get repeated or reappear in the artists works over many years. The artists are mostly self-taught and all have an inner need to build a cast of real or imagined characters, often exploring companionship. They all create without thinking about the expectations of other people.
BSL interpretated information on the exhibition and the artists can be found here.
