IWM North is presenting the first major exhibition of IWM's collection of contemporary art produced since the First Gulf War. Over 20 years of work by over 40 artists is displayed together in Catalyst: Contemporary Art and War, revealing how war has been a critical subject matter for contemporary artists over the last two decades. The collection explores what motivates contemporary artists to create work focused on conflict, and how fine art can encourage us to consider the immediate and long-term impact of current events. The exhibition features a broad range of media including installations, photography, film, sculpture, oil paintings, prints and book works. We are delighted that work by Flowers artist John Keane is featured within this thought-provoking exhibition.
