Angela Flowers Gallery 25th Anniversary Print Portfolio at Cartwright Hall
A special print portfolio created to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Angela Flowers Gallery is set to go on display at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery in Yorkshire alongside the work of other world famous practitioners. Entitled The Artists' Folio: as a Site of Inquiry, the exhibition will take place 8 February - 15 June at the Arts Council funded venue in Bradford, featuring single artist pieces by the likes of David Hockney and L.S. Lowry alongside folios representing groups of artists. Among them is a framed intaglio set of prints by Flowers artists, including Nicola Hicks, Glenys Barton, Renny Tait and Tai-Shan Schierenberg, all of whom have also exhibited at Bradford Museums and Galleries. Folios of this nature enable publishers to present a body of work to be viewed together, allowing each piece to be appreciated as a single experience whilst also revealing new dimensions to the work when considered as part of a wider whole. The city of Bradford has a rich history of supporting print-making, playing host to the International Print Biennale between 1970 and 1984, and Cartwright Hall is now regarded as having one of the primary contemporary print collections outside of London.
