In Conversation: Michael Wolf
THIS TALK IS NOW FULLY BOOKED. Guests are instead welcome to join us for the opening of Michael Wolf's exhibition on Thursday 26 November, 6-8pm.
From drying gloves and mops to “informal seating arrangements”, from lost items of laundry to coat hangers or plastic bags, Wolf has documented the full range of informal solutions residents have developed to cope with the density of Hong Kong life. - Marc Feustel
Wolf's body of work, My Favourite Thing documents the hyper-density of the city of Hong Kong through his large-scale photographs of its high rise architecture. In a new solo exhibition Informal Arrangements at Flowers Gallery, Wolf juxtaposes an abstracted view of Hong Kong’s seemingly endless industrial facades with an intimate perspective from within its hidden network of back alleys, in a series of photographic typologies and vernacular sculptures. In creating his latest body of work, Michael Wolf has returned to particular sites as many as twenty times to capture shifting arrangements, evoking the practice of an urban anthropologist. The artist will discuss his photographic practice and its relationship to architecture, design and culture in this special 'in conversation' event with Director of Photography at Flowers Gallery, Chris Littlewood.
