Tom Hammick Residency at Peacock Visual Arts
Tom Hammick has been invited to spend two weeks as artist in residence at Peacock Studios in Aberdeen. He will be working on two new large reduction woodcut and chine colle prints which we look forward to exhibiting in the near future.
Peacock Printmakers was established in 1974 by a group of artists, led by Arthur Watson, who wanted to have a facility in the city for making fine art prints. These prints are usually produced in small quantities directly with the artist, as opposed to mechanical reproductions commonly sold on the high street. The organisation has now expanded to include the widest range of visual arts production facilities openly available in Scotland, and provides expert training in their use.
David McCracken, Print Curator at Peacock Visual Arts writes:
"We have admired Tom’s painting and prints for many years, his larger prints in particular have a lyricism that defies their physicality and commands an authority that immediately elevates the medium. Printmaking at Peacocks has a long tradition of collaboration, it is the cornerstone that we constantly build upon."
