Panel Discussion - The Art of Collecting with Angela Flowers and Tim Sayer

LONDON Kingsland Road

Please join us for a special event in conjunction with Mono: An Exhibition of Unique Prints. The exhibition features the work of more than 30 artists, some are well-known names; others, having recently graduated from art college, are beginning their journey. Without the collector, few if any of these artists could survive in their studios making work.

Collecting art can also be a journey and for some it becomes a real passion, a way of life, and a source of enjoyment and pride.

Angela Flowers, who founded her Gallery in 1970, understands better than any of us the unique relationship between the collector, the gallery and the artist. She has selected artists for her gallery, nurtured their talent, and worked with a host of interesting collectors for over 45 years. And throughout she has always collected art for herself with huge energy and passion.

Tim Sayer, a retired BBC radio news journalist has described himself as an art-oholic. He has spent 50 years and every spare penny compiling an unrivaled collection of art from many of the finest artists in our time. Having always collected on a budget, he has taken the art of collecting to a whole new level. He has promised his entire collection to the Hepworth Gallery, Wakefield, one of the largest bequests to any regional British Museum in history. He was recently awarded the MBE.

No contemporary gallery could survive without its artists and its collectors. This talk will throw some light on our unique relationship with the two.

Refreshments will be served. RSVP is essential
