Edward Burtynsky: Manufactured Landscapes Screening & Artist Talk

M+ Museum, Hong Kong, 7.30pm
23 May 2025

Manufactured Landscapes follows artist Edward Burtynsky as he travels through China with his large-format field camera. He photographs landscapes shaped by large-scale human activity and the country's breathtaking industrial revolution, capturing remarkable locations such as the Three Gorges Dam, massive factories, and Shanghai's urban environment. Extending the narratives of Burtynsky's photographs, Manufactured Landscapes, shot on Super 16mm film, creates a richly layered portrait of a changing planet. The film offers a meditative perspective on the Anthropocene and the complex entanglements with the way we live.

This special screening will be followed by a post-screening talk in English with artist Edward Burtynsky and Ikko Yokoyama, Lead Curator of Design and Architecture at M+.
