Now open at the 2024/2025 Chaumont-Photo-sur-Loire is Edward Burtynsky: African Studies. Installed in the Château’s Upper Galleries at Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire’s Centre for Arts and Nature, the exhibition is featured in a series of photography presentations at Chaumont-Photo-sur-Loire which each year draws visitors’ attention to the precious yet fragile quality of nature.

In African Studies, a body of work produced across the African continent between 2015-2019, Edward Burtynsky reflects on landscapes undergoing rapid industrial and manufacturing expansion. Focusing on Sub-Saharan Africa, his images present environments shaped by processes of resource extraction and an ongoing enquiry into the global theme of water and its related environmental and geo-political impacts.
