Jakkai Siributr featured in The Spirits of Maritime Crossing
Jakkai Siributr's work will be featured in The Spirits of Maritime Crossing, hosted by the Bangkok Art Biennale Foundation as one of the Official Collateral events for the 60th Venice Biennale, 2024.
There’s No Place, Siributr’s collaborative embroidery piece, is a continuous dialogue between the community of Koung Jor Shan Refugee Camp, near the Thai-Burma border, and viewers around the world. A collection of embroidered stories from displaced refugees, the work encourages contemplation on the effects of forced migration.
The project includes 200 embroideries, a collage of memories, identities, aspirations, responses and dialogue, that span both time and space, rendering visible the layered impact of political violence on cultural identity and coexistence.
