Edmund Clark Orange Screen, 2016
The recently opened Blavatnik Art, Film and Photography Galleries at the Imperial War Museum, London features an installation of Orange Screen, 2016, a film originally made for Clark's exhibition War on Terror at IWM, and was developed in collaboration with writer and curator Max Houghton.
Orange Screen explores the visual language of the 'War On Terror'. Texts, presented as photograph frames, describe widely shared images, dating from 2001 onwards, questioning how we connect experience and memories of events with their representation. The orange evokes the jumpsuits worn by detainees at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp and in ISIS propaganda videos.
