Derek Boshier Image in Revolt
Celebrating 60 years of this restlessly inventive artist’s work, this exhibition offers a rare overview of Derek Boshier’s career from the post war period to the digital age. From his iconic Pop paintings tackling nuclear anxieties and the growing consumerism of 1960s Britain, his distinctive collages and films of the 1970s critiquing capitalism and class to more recent bodies of expressive paintings and drawings confronting gender, technology, and war at the height of the #MeToo and Black Lives Matter movements, it explores Boshier’s lifelong fascination with the power, use and function of images.
