Company I (diptych) is part of Tess Jaray's 2021 series Solitude. Formulated from the layering of blues and oranges, the diptych explores the possibilities of constructing space. Precise and controlled, the composition creates a sense of optical flux in their respective colourways. Jaray incorporates repetition and pattern to produce structural ambiguity as a result of which the lines, colours and geometric forms appear both near and distant. The configuration imparts spatial obscurity and altering arrangements which modify the spectator's interpretation of sensory information.
