Shen Wei Risk Taker, 2018-2020
Shen Wei's Scholar Rock works are a sculptural continuation of Invisible Atlas, a series inspired by the artist's fascination with energy. Consisting of selected Manhattan schist rock, handmade polymer clay objects and found wooden base, both of the artist's pieces in this exhibition contract the power of earthly energy and personal desire. Risk Taker portrays an iconic scene often portrayed in Asian paintings of a lone person meditating under a mountain.
