Biography
AMANDA FAULKNER (b 1953)
From the moment that Amanda Faulkner's work was shown at the Angela Flowers Gallery in 1984, it was clear that a new, distinctive and brilliant artist had arrived. Faulkner has a voice all her own.
The last hundred years have brought emancipation, opportunity and sexual freedom, but alongside have developed enormous pressures and stress. In Amanda Faulkner's remarkably powerful work we find the struggle with this later twentieth century shift in the human condition. As she explores some of the frighteningly familiar thoughts, doubts, and musing, we find both the surreal nightmare qualities of Gogol and the shockingly intense intimacy of Sartre.
